Dusshera (also known as Vijayadashami ,Dasara, Dashain,Dusahara) is a Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. Dusshera is observed for different reasons and celebrated differently in various parts of South Asia .
In the southern ,eastern and northeastern states of India ,it marks the end of Durga puja remembering goddess Durga’s victory over the buffalo demon Mahishasura to restore and protect dharma.
In the northern and western states it marks the end of ‘Ramlila’ remembering Lord Rama’s victory over the king Ravan of Lanka.Rama killed the ten headed king Ravana who abducted his beloved wife Sita on this auspicious day.
